So you have a website ready, which you have been working on for weeks to design and develop. Now it is ready. You have launched it. All features and functions are working and you are quite happy with the same but my dear friend it is not the end of the game. Rather the beginning. If you are not driving relevant traffic to your website it is only good as a showpiece. The thousands of rupees you have spent to develop this will not give you any return. Follow these steps to start generating relevant traffic to your website. 

  • Post Regular Blogs & Update Your Content

Posting regular blogs to your website and updating unique content to your website is an important to do item which will start driving traffic to your website. Companies, which blog more often in a month can multiply their leads who don’t post a single blog in a month. 

Do a little bit of research on platforms like Quora.com and other similar platforms to figure out topics that people are asking which are in relation with your business and dedicate a few hours each week to write one or two blogs a week targeting 400 or more words.

  • Work On Your Metatags and Keywords  

Make sure each page of your website, new or old, has a keyword related meta title with character limitations of 60 or less, meta description with maximum character of up to 160 and a single H1 tag on every page.  

Use Google’s Keyword Planner to get suggestions for keywords for your business and pick up the popular ones. 

Use Yoast Plugin to add important metadata on each page. 

  • Post Regular Content on Social Media

Be active on social media with regular posts. Make sure your website is correctly linked with your social media accounts. The blogs that you are writing post them on your social media with a link back to the website. 

You can also post them on social media groups which are members if you are allowed to. Or; if you have the budget run Facebook ads to boost your blog to reach even more people.

If you are short of time and need quick results and have the budget for it then you can run Google ads. It can drive a good number of relevant traffic to your website within a matter of hours. You can run Google Search Ad, Display Ad or even Shopping Ad (if you are selling products).

A lot of people not fully educated about the digital world make the mistake of not putting in the effort of driving traffic to the website. They have this notion that building a website will start generating leads on their own and start generating business. That is wrong. Website is just like a store. No matter how beautifully you have decorated it unless potential customers walk in you will not be able to make that sale. Also, be patient while running an online business. It is just like any brick and mortar business which takes time and continuous effort to grow and mature.
